The Edinboro Community Pool
will be opening on Wednesday, June 4th, for the 2008 summer season. On this day, the last day of school for General McLane, admission to the pool will be FREE for EVERYONE!! Feel free to celebrate the last day of school at the community pool!!

Reminder for 2nd grade parents -
Your child will be required to have a dental exam in 3rd grade. If your child has an appointment over the summer with their private dentist, please have your dentist complete the form that was sent home and return it to the school.

Kids DO and CAN affect change...
Thank you to the students in CHALLENGE who successfully advertised and campaigned for various environmental issues during the Earth Day celebrations in April. Because of their voices and the subsequent reactions of the McKean Elementary community, our district administration has listened. A new bid for trash removal is in the works, and the General McLane administration has added plastics to the list! THANK YOU ALL for reducing your trash, for recycling, and for being supporters of our environment at McKean Elementary and your world!

The Erie Dance Conservatory
on Edinboro Road is offering a five week summer workshop, beginning June 30, for students age 3 to adults. Tuition can be paid in full or on a weekly basis to accommodate family vacations. Each year the A.H. Club of Edinboro
donates money to buy new clothing for students of the General McLane School District. Last year the A.H. Club was able to spend $5,800.00 for students at Edinboro and McKean Elementary Schools and $1,300.00 for students at Parker Middle School. To date, The A.H. Club of Edinboro has donated $105,300.00 to purchase clothing for our youth during the Christmas Season. You can be a part of this wonderful tradition by signing up for: The 17th Annual A.H. Golf Tournament on July 12, 2008, 1:30 PM Shotgun Start, at Culbertson Hills Golf Resort. The cost is $60.00 per player. Waldameer All Day Combo Passes
will be sold at the Middle school through Friday, May 30th. School picnic day is June 11th. The tickets you purchase will be honored any day that the park is open during the month of June and then again from August 18th until the end of the Waldameer season. Cost of the All Day Combo Pass is $12.00 this year. Checks are to be made payable to JWPMS PTSA. McKean Elementary School families are welcome to purchase tickets at the Middle School office or you may send your request to the McKean Elementary School office and we will forward it to the Middle School. Please send ticket money in an envelope clearly marked with the student’s name, classroom, the number of tickets, and the amount enclosed. The student’s name is very important!

are available while supplies last. Water bottles were purchased for the fourth grade celebration and we have extras. The bottles have the General McLane logo on them and are $2.00 each. Edinboro Lanes’ fun summer league
for family and friends is beginning in May. Non-smoking league at 7 PM on Wednesdays. This is a non-sanctioned league, so if you can’t play, you don’t pay. 2008 GM GIRLS BASKETBALL CAMP

A special one time sign-up for the Blue Dolphin Swim Team
will be held on Monday, June 2nd, from 6:00 - 7:30 PM at the Edinboro University McComb Fieldhouse. Come see the pool, meet the coaches and other swimmers, order team t-shirts and bathing suits. Receive full swimmer packet with dates, times and directions. All swimmers, ages 6-18 who can swim 25 yards without stopping are welcome. The cost to join the team is $55 per swimmer.

The 8th annual Saint Vincent Youth Triathlon
will be held on Saturday, June 28th at 12:00 PM on the campus of Fairview High School. Both boys and girls, ages 7-17 can compete in swimming, bicycling and running. Distances vary by age group.

Several sports camps are being held this summer:
Volleyball, June 9-13 for girls ages 9-12
Soccer - June 16-19 for boys and girls, ages 4-13
Baseball/Softball - June 23-26 for boys and girls, ages 6-12
Flag Football - August 4-7 for boys and girls, ages 6-14

Registrations are now being accepting for the Fall NFL Flag Football season.
NFL Flag Football is for both boys and girls, ages 6-14. Practices are either on Wednesdays or Thursdays and games are on Saturdays. The season begins with a coaches’ meeting on July 30th at 7 PM and practices on August 6th.
