Graduation requirements for ECTS students are the same as all other courses of study at GM. To be eligible for a diploma at GM, ECTS students must have completed at least 28 credits (out of a possible 32 credits) by the end of their senior year. If you have any questions or concerns about meeting these graduation requirements, you should see Mr. Astorino as soon as possible.

All high school students are required to complete a portfolio. As an ECTS student, your portfolio must be completed at the ECTS and not at GM. Mr. Astorino will serve as your advisor at GM. You will meet with him in the auditorium during the monthly advisory meetings at GM. If you decide to withdraw from ECTS, you will be reassigned a new advisor at GM.

Scheduling of courses at GM will take place every spring. Following the scheduling process, you will receive a copy of your completed schedule during the summer. ECTS students are encouraged to check their schedule to ensure proper lab placements and proper time slots. If there is a discrepancy or change needed in your schedule, please contact Mr. Astorino.

ECTS students who earned a final grade of F during the year at ECTS will not be permitted to return to that particular lab the following year. You may apply to another lab and if accepted, you would be placed in AM - Level 1. It is critical that you notify the ECTS in early summer that you wish to apply for that alternate lab. Remember, failure of an ECTS lab may jeopardize graduation with your class at GM.

ECTS students who fail a required GM course must plan on attending summer school. Otherwise, you may jeopardize graduating with your class at GM. As an ECTS student, you do not have the flexibility in your schedule to retake courses during the school year and expect to graduate with your class. Upon initial acceptance to ECTS, each student receives a letter from Mr. Astorino that will provide details regarding course failure.

ECTS students planning on dropping, adding, or changing an ECTS Lab must obtain the proper paperwork (green drop/add/change form) from the GM Guidance Office. Students must have parent/guardian consent prior to school approval of a drop/add/change. ECTS lab changes are coordinated through the ECTS guidance office and lab changes will take place prior to October 1st or at the end of each semester.

If a lab is full, you may be placed on a waiting list. Students will be notified of a lab opening as it becomes available. Remember, eleven participating schools at ECTS have the opportunity to place students in these slots as they become available. Students may not get their first choice, therefore they are asked to list alternative choices. Extra efforts are put forth to enable students to get into their first lab choice.

Students will receive a quarterly report card from GM which may have their ECTS grade listed on it. ECTS does send quarterly report cards home. GM Students will receive progress reports at the middle of each term from their GM instructors. ECTS instructors will issue progress reports for students experiencing deficiencies only. Parents are encouraged to contact ECTS staff to check on their students' progress and grades. Each instructor has voice mail and email options. (firstinitiallastname@ects.org)

ECTS students can earn two kinds of certification. Students who meet all curriculum requirements in a lab would receive a Certificate of Completion for that lab. Students who meet a portion of the competencies would receive a Certificate of Participation for that lab. It should be noted that either of the certificates will only be awarded to a student if they complete their senior year at ECTS. Students can inquire with their ECTS lab instructor concerning competencies required for that lab.

Sophomores who enter ECTS will participate in a written assessment measuring their knowledge coming into the technical program. The results will be utilized by the faculty and staff in designing instruction. Seniors who have completed a three year program and all curriculum requirements at ECTS will participate in a mandatory PDE sponsored evaluation. The evaluation will enable students to demonstrate their competencies through a written as well as a hands-on evaluation. Students will receive a listing of their competencies as they perform on the PDE approved competency test. Students who meet or exceed the PDE stated levels in a given lab are awarded an additional certificate entitled the Pennsylvania Skills Certificate.
