Kudos to the GM Envirothon Team of Andrew Zimmerman, Matt Erdman, Elliott Lasher, Everett Lasher and Gregory Evanoff for finishing second in the Erie County Envirothon held at Presque Isle on Thursday. Andrew placed 1st in the Special Topics category and Matt Erdman finished 1st in Forestry. Other teams also fared well. Members of the team were Caitlin Cooke, Tim Gwinn, Robert Gwinn, Will Steadman, Brian LaFata, Colleen Morgan, Allie Elliot, Allisa Cordova, Heather Herzog, Justin Nekeloff, Sean Nekeloff, Josh Henry, Joe Zimmerman, Eric Zelina and Will Folckemer. Great job Mrs Neuburger and students!!

General McLane is hosting the "Relay for Life" benefitting the American Cancer Society on June 15th and 16th. There are many ways to participate in this event by forming a team of friends to walk together and raise money, by serving on a planning committee or by assisting at the event. Any student interested in learning more about the relay may obtain additional information by contacting Mr Kane in Rm 101.


ACTIVITIES/MEETINGS--
The last of the championship Tees have arrived! Students who have made a purchase are asked to obtain a shirt today. Students wishing to purchase a tee should stop in the Pencil Box ASAP.

Any senior interested in assisting with this year's Baccalaureate service are asked to meet in Rm 300 today and Monday during tutorial.

The cast and crew of Les Miserables are reminded that tomorrow at noon members are needed to assemble and paint the barricade.

A meeting for all GM Lancer Ledger staff members is scheduled on Monday after school until 3:30pm. Students unable to attend are asked to contact Mrs Lerch. All stories for the May issue are due ASAP.

Edinboro Lanes announces summer bowling leagues starting Wednesday, May 9th. "Buck Nights" return in May on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Great value on games, shoes, food and fountain drinks.

The Erie County 4-H Club will be holding a benefit auction tomorrow, Saturday May 5th. Many great items will be auctioned including an autographed General McLane football and basketball. The event will be held at the Waterford Fairgrounds and beginning at 9am.

FROM GUIDANCE--
Attention Seniors--Several new scholarship opportunities are available. Please obtain information and applications on the many opportunities in the Guidance Office.

The John Gillette Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to two members of the GMHS senior class. Two scholarships will be awarded and are open to all graduating seniors who have been accepted to a college or university. The deadline is May 23rd.

The Mary Pfeffer nursing scholarship is available to an outstanding senior student pursuinging the profession of nursing.

The Jon Kron scholarship application is also available for those students in the upper 15% of the class with evidence of good citizenship, dependability and involvement in community and school activities.

Just a few reminders that several other scholarships are still available with deadlines quickly approaching so please visit the scholarship drawer in the Guidance Office to obtain applications.

The Erie Institute of Technology is holding an open house this Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 5pm at their new Millcreek Mall location. Students will be able to tour the new facility and ask questions about training in computer networking, multimedia graphic design, electronics or biomedical equipment technology. There will be lots of demonstrations, refreshments and give-aways. That's this weekend at EIT's new Millcreek Mall location.

Villa Maria Academy is hosting a Spring College Fair on Tuesday, May 8 from 7-8:30pm. Over 80 colleges will be sending representatives to this event. This is a great opportunity for current juniors and sophomores with the college search process.

General McLane's boys and girls track teams were in action against Meadville yesterday. The The boys defeated the Bulldogs 88-61, while the girls fell 68-82. Drew Astorino led the boys with four 1st place finishes, winning the long and triple jumps, the 100 and the 4 X 100 relay. Other first place finishes for the boys were turned in by Brent Hutchison in the 300 hurdles, Frank Bartnik in the 110 hurdles and Ryan Birchard in the discuss. On the girl's side, Nikki Sarra won the 100 hurdles and Imani Smith won the 300 hurdles. Great job GM track and field!

The softball team lost to Corry last night 13-0. The JV team also lost 14-2.

Seniors--Delta Tau Delta, one of the largest national fraternities, prides itself on the basic foundation of truth, courage, faith and power. The fraternity is offering a $500 scholarship to a senior student that demonstrates these values. Criteria also includes attendance at a school with a Delt chapter. A list of these schools as well as an application packet may be obtained in the Guidance Office. The deadline is June 1st.

A reminder that juniors will be taking the PSSA Science exam on Tuesday May 1st and Wednesday, May 2nd. An ACTIVITY PERIOD schedule will be used each day. With extra time needed on Tuesday, the normal activity schedule will be extended and a regular activity schedule is scheduled for WEDNESDAY. Juniors will report to their designated test location each day and all non-juniors will remain in 2nd period each day. Only necessary announcements will be made at the end of the day each day.

TODAY IN SPORTS--
The Lancer Softball Team lost last night to Mercyhurst Prep 9-1. Alex Gierlak went the distance on the mound striking out 5 batters and walking only one. Extra base hits were garnered by Dana Murdzak with a double and Amber Kuntz with a triple. Bre Otteni had the lone RBI. The GM JV squad beat the Lakers 14-4. Stacy Sult, Brandi Hobbs and Megan Niswonger had multi-hit games. Sarah Rajecki had a 1st inning triple driving in the first run. Kaitlin Ballew got the win on the mound forcing 10 ground outs and walking only one.

The Lancer Tennis Team fell to Warren yesterday by a score of 4-1 ending the season with an overall record of 5-5. The #2 doubles team of Jared Schau and Charlie Shinn won their match over the previously undefeated Warren duo to earn the Lancers their only point.
