"Passion, heart, and a willingness to learn"
The
General McLane Girls Basketball Team and its' coaching staff are right where they want to be. Six seniors and two underclassman return to the 2006-2007 squad, all with varsity experience. Tori Hansen, last year's region player of the year, will again handle the point guard responsibilities. Kelly Lewis and Sarah Schulz will maintain the off-guard positions, while Kayla Jeska and Sara Hansen are taking care of the paint. Also returning from last years varsity squad and expecting to contribute significant minutes are Renee Seth, Leigh Gauriloff and Ashley Dougherty. Along with the deep bench, newcomers will also be looked upon to contribute as they gain valuable varsity knowledge and experience.
Another realignment within regions leaves the Lady Lancers to face some new and different competition this season. They will, however, remain part of Region 4 and as such will face some familiar rivals such as Corry, Northwestern and Fort LeBoeuf as well as the unfamiliar teams from Meadville and Warren. Their independent schedule also features some of the areas most competitive programs such as Franklin and Mercyhurst Prep.
The Lady Lancers are expecting to put the hard work and off season training into practice as they once again host their own Tip-Off Tournament to officially start the 2006-2007 Girls Basketball season. Central will be GM's first opponent with Holidaysburg scheduled for the second round. The Lady Lancers are looking to avenge a one-point opening game loss to the Lady Falcons in last years tournament and have been eagerly anticipating the opening tip. The Lady Lancers have their sights set on a goal; to go deep into the region and district playoffs. With the hours of hard work and dedication already logged in, this Lady Lancer Basketball Team is sure to be successful in achieving that goal.
