Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA): Get the Facts!
  What is MRSA?
MRSA stands for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. S. aureus that is resistant to methicillin is also resistant to other penicillins and to cephalosporins.
How does MRSA affect people? People can carry the bacteria in the nose or on the skin without having any illness. This is called colonization and these individuals are "carriers" of MRSA. MRSA can also cause infections ranging from skin sores to pneumonia. People with an infection and can pass the bacteria more easily to
other people.

Is My Child Well Enough To Go To School?
 

Parents are frequently concerned about the decision of when to keep their children home. For the health of your child and to prevent the spread of illness to other students, please keep your child home if he or she: 

  • has a fever of 100 degrees or more. Your child should remain at home for 24 hours after the temperature returns to normal (without Tylenol or Motrin)
  • has vomited or has had diarrhea, and should remain at home for 24 hours after it has stopped.
  • has Strep Throat (until on antibiotic for 24 hours)
  • has a moist, persistent cough or discolored nasal discharge.
  • has red, inflamed or draining eyes. (Pink eye)
  • Chicken Pox until scabbed over.
  • Head lice keep home until all nits are removed.

Which Immunizations Does My Child Need?

Childhood diseases are at an all time low, but they are not gone. With immunizations you can prevent your child from the dangers some of these diseases present.
